What you will learn

Need to take advantage of the extensibility of ServiceNow? Domain Separation is used to define discrete ServiceNow systems within an instance. Within the ServiceNow instance, Domain Separation provides data, process, and system partitioning to implement customer systems.

Using the StartNow methodology, we discuss the high level project management steps, implementation of Domain Separation, and ongoing administration once Domain Separation has been implemented.

The following topics are covered in the course:

• An overview which provides criteria for making the decision to implement domain separation
• Architect a domain separated instance – learn how relationships are used to create a domain hierarchy
• Implement instance preparation good practices
• Identify global integration points – what system elements can be shared between domains?
• Set ServiceNow table elements that direct domain data
• Create a domain within a domain separated instance
• Accomplish application separation – which applications are managed globally, which applications can be assigned to a domain
• Use ServiceNow features used to implement and manage domain separation – Update Sets, workflows, and reports
• Upgrade considerations for a domain separated instance
• Performance and troubleshooting good practices

The class features lecture and discussion as well extensive hands-on practice and reinforcement delivered in a wide variety of lab activities.

Prerequisites

• Completed the 3 day System Admin class (System Administration certification is preferred)
• Completed the 3 day Scripting in ServiceNow class
